Gregory Mcdonald (1937 – 2008) was an American writer best known for his mystery adventures featuring investigative reporter Irwin Maurice "Fletch" Fletcher. An extremely dark novel, "The Brave" received critical acclaim, and was even adopted into a movie directed by and starring Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando. The book went almost unnoticed in the United States, making it somewhat rare today, and never received a paperback release. In Europe, however, it won prestigious awards and was considered by some critics as a great novel.
