Emil Kapaun (1916-1951) was a U.S. Army Chaplain in World War II and the Korean War. He was captured and imprisoned in Korea, where he died in 1951. Pope John Paul II began the process of canonization for Kapaun in 1993 by declaring him a Servant of God. He was also posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 2013. At least three miracles are being considered for Kapaun for the possibility of sainthood.
