She is the daughter of country singer Tex Dickerson and the sister of songwriter Ron Davies. Gail Davies found success as a singer and songwriter during the 1970s and 1980s, and had numerous Top 10 and Top 20 Billboard hits. She became one of country music's most influential performers, and has been cited as a role model for other female performers such as Suzy Bogguss, Kathy Mattea, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Pam Tillis.
