Anna Freud was the youngest child of Sigmund Freud and his wife Martha Bernays. She is considered the founder of psychoanalysis for children, along with Melanie Klein. Anna Freud gave a series of nine introductory lectures on psychoanalysis at Harvard University in 1952. These lectures were not written down, but were preserved on tape and later transcribed to be presented in this book.
